ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Lily Senter and I am a senior at FWCD. I have been interested in architecture for as long as I can remember and I plan on majoring in it in college. I decided to do this Capstone Project after hearing about the new master plan for Fort Worth Country Day's campus. The gym was an area I felt needed the most attention since our current one has many flaws. I contacted Lake Flato, the architecture firm in charge of the re-design, and asked if they would consider my final project in their plans and they eagerly agreed. I made it my mission to create a plan that addressed all the major issues based on feedback from faculty, coaches, students and parents. My goal was to make the layout as functional as possible for today and the future. I hope you enjoy it!

The first thing I had to do was figure out what wasn't working with our current structure. I created a survey and sent it to Upper School students to get community feedback. I received really great answers like, "We need separate bathrooms and locker rooms", but I also received some fun ones such as "I want a two-story yoga studio" and "Add some crazy lights!". I culled through over 200 responses until I pinpointed the areas of concern. After that, it was time to design!
After receiving input from the Upper School, I took to the computer to start drafting a 3D model. About a month in I faced a challenge with the technology I was using and had to start over in a new program. Once I switched over, things were going smoothly again and I sent my design in for a first review. The feedback I got was very practical and I was able to make important layout changes and create a final product.
